The Library has several Programs available to the Community and is continually assessing the needs of the Community by offering new programs.
Library Rangers- a library rites of passage program which teaches young people the necessary skills needed to navigate through a library.
Black History Links Help Children Think- A reading program which uses Black History as its theme to educate children about the achievements of African People.
Annual African Book Festival- Festival in either May or June introducing new African reading material to the community.
Pass It On- A reading program which uses middle school youth as reading partners for elementary school children. This program will take place at least once a week at the African Roots Library.
Black Inventors Exhibitions- Each month the Library will showcase one or two Black Inventors. The Library will exhibit their works and display their biographies.
Critical Black Issues Conference- Annual conference (First Saturday in February of each year) on issues important to the Black Community.
Show Me A Story- A program which invites local authors and illustrators to come to the Library and explain to the children how stories are developed.
Read to Me; Raising Kids Who Love to Read- A collaborative program between EvenStart and the African Roots Library, teaching family members how to help their children increase their love for reading.
Adult Study Circle Program- Weekly discussion groups, discussing African History and its influence on the world.
